Tape and Turf: 2024 NFL Rounds 2-3 Mock Draft
Day 2 of the NFL Draft is equally important as as the first round, and a few teams still have holes to fill.
After a first round of surprises, the top of the second round is filled with first-round talent for teams that need it most. ALL 52 has you covered with full projections for the second night of the 2024 NFL Draft.
Round 2
Buffalo Bills: Adonai Mitchell, WR, Texas
The Bills need to stop doing draft night business with the Chiefs for the sake of themselves and the rest of the NFL. Buffalo could have Xavier Worthy but opted to give him to Kansas City to help them win another title. The Bills will have to settle for Texas's nearly 6-3 WR2 now.
New England Patriots: Ladd McConkey, WR, Georgia
Drake Maye needs someone to throw the ball to, and McConkey is one of the best route runners in this draft. Plus, he is New England's type of wideout.
Arizona Cardinals: Kool-Aid McKinstry, CB, Alabama
McKinstry being available in the second round is a steal. He was available for the Cardinals at No. 27, but Arizona passed. They get their No. 1 CB in the second round instead.
Washington Commanders: Cooper DeJean, DB, Iowa
The Commanders got their QB to compete with Dak Prescott and Jalen Hurts. Now Washington needs its secondary to compete with the All-Pro WRs in Dallas in Philly. DeJean is the best and most versatile on the board and could've been a Round 1 selection.
Los Angeles Chargers: Troy Franklin, WR, Oregon
The Chargers chose to take Joe Alt instead of trading back for Nos. 11 and 23 from the Vikings. With those picks, they could get a WR and OT. Instead, they have to use their second-rounder on a fast receiver like Franklin.
Tennessee Titans: Edgerrin Cooper, LB, Texas A&M
The Titans need another linebacker next to Kenneth Murray Jr., who still classifies as a project. Cooper is athletic and gets to whatever place on the gridiron he needs to be. Tennessee will have a much-needed athletic ILB duo in 2024.
Carolina Panthers: Payton Wilson, LB, NC State
The Panthers traded up for the local Xavier Legette on Thursday, and they'll stay local to fill another position of need on Friday. Carolina needs help in the linebacker corp, and Wilson showed his potential not too far away from Charlotte.
Washington Commanders: Kingsley Suamataia, OT, BYU
The Commanders would be irresponsible if they drafted Jayden Daniels without getting him some protection. Suamataia is the best OT available in Round 2 by a decent margin.
Green Bay Packers: Jackson Powers-Johnson, IOL, Oregon
The Packers are going to fully invest in Jordan Love's future, and that means using its first two picks on offensive linemen. Powers-Johnson was good enough to be drafted in Round 1, and Green Bay will be glad to have him at guard or center this fall.
Houston Texans: Jer’Zhan Newton, DT, Illinois
The Texans need another defensive tackle next to Denico Autry to fully solidify DeMeco Ryans's 4-3. With two second-round picks, Houston grabs the best player available here before shifting its focus to CB at No. 59.
Atlanta Falcons: Ennis Rakestraw Jr., CB, Missouri
The Falcons shocked the world and went draft-and-stash at QB in the first round after signing Kirk Cousins to a four-year, $180 million contract. Now, they draft someone to fit an immediate need as Rakestraw stays in SEC territory and receives great defensive coaching from Raheem Morris.
Las Vegas Raiders: Mike Sainristil, CB, Michigan
Instead of drafting a much-needed OT or CB in Round 1, the Raiders chose to draft Brock Bowers to pair with Michael Mayer in 12 personnel. Vegas can't afford to pass on one of those positions here, and take the best player available at those spots.
New Orleans Saints: Keon Coleman, WR, Florida State
The Saints need to give Derek Carr another playmaker, which will end Coleman's slide. He was a No. 1 option at Florida State and was a first-round prospect all season. Then, he ran a 4.61 40-yard dash and killed his Day 1 hopes. At 6-3 and with an ability to find the end zone, the Saints could use him.
Indianapolis Colts: Kamari Lassiter, CB, Georgia
The Colts passing on the many talented first-round corners was shocking and may come back to bite them in an AFC South that's filled with wide receiver talent. They cannot afford to pass on one here and take a two-time national champion that gets his hands to the football.
New York Giants: T.J. Tampa, CB, Iowa State
The Giants need another CB opposite Deonte Banks to compete against the Eagles and the Cowboys. Tampa was First Team All-Big 12 and a semifinalist for both the Thorpe and Bednarik awards. There's no reason he can't compete for a starting job in 2024.
Jacksonville Jaguars: Zach Frazier, IOL, West Virginia
Round 1 included a few draft picks that were made for the future, and the Jags will kick that trend off in Round 2. Brandon Scherff is 33 and entering the final year of his contract. Here, the Jags get his successor at No. 48.
Cincinnati Bengals: Roman Wilson, WR, Michigan
The Bengals need a WR3 that can be their WR2 next season. Tee Higgins is disgruntled after receiving the franchise tag and has requested a trade. After passing on the talented Round 1 WRs, they take a national champion in the second round.
Philadelphia Eagles: Chris Braswell, EDGE, Alabama
Josh Sweat and Brandon Graham are probably gone after 2024, and the Eagles will need someone to compete with Nolan Smith. With possibly the deepest roster in the NFL, Philly takes a prospect for next season right here.
Pittsburgh Steelers: Cooper Beebe, IOL, Kansas State
The Steelers and Chargers will have similar drafts, stacking offensive linemen to get more physical for their new, run-heavy offensive coordinators. After taking an OT on Thursday, Pittsburgh moves to the interior on Friday.
Los Angeles Rams: Braden Fiske, DT, Florida State
The Rams got their edge rusher on Thursday as they solidify their defensive line. Now, they get Kobie Turner a new partner in crime on the interior with Fiske, another quick defensive tackle that the Rams will love that was teammates with L.A.’s first-round pick.
Philadelphia Eagles: Trey Benson, RB, Florida State
Saquon Barkley has only played 16 or more games twice in his career, and Kenneth Gainwell is more of a receiving back for the Eagles. To keep Barkley fresh — or to have insurance in case he gets hurt — the Eagles get Kellen Moore another running back that will benefit from the holes the Eagles' offensive line creates.
Cleveland Browns: Malachi Corley, WR, Western Kentucky
The Browns have a lot of money tied to Deshaun Watson, and both Amari Cooper and Elijah Moore are set to be free agents in 2025. To be prepared for anything drastic in the future, the Browns take the best receiver remaining with their first pick in the 2024 draft.
Miami Dolphins: Kris Jenkins, DL, Michigan
The Dolphins still need to address their weakness in the trenches, especially after losing Christian Wilkins this offseason. With Jenkins still available at No. 55, there's no way they can pass on him.
Dallas Cowboys: Jonathon Brooks, RB, Texas
The Cowboys are reportedly in talks to reunite with Ezekiel Elliott, but that isn't enough to substantially upgrade their depleted backfield. Just like Round 1, Dallas will stay in Red River territory and take the best player available at a position of need. Brooks is recovering from a torn ACL, but he will be a starter when he recovers.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Max Melton, CB, Rutgers
The Buccaneers chose to pass on drafting a CB, their position of most need. If they pass on Melton in Round 2, they're sealing their fate of missing the playoffs in 2024.
Green Bay Packers: Tyler Nubin, S, Minnesota
The Packers need a safety next to Xavier McKinney, and Nubin happens to be the best overall player available at No. 58. This pick shouldn't take too much time off the clock.
Houston Texans: Javon Bullard, S, Georgia
Jimmie Ward is 33 and entering the final year of his contract. The Texans are in prime position to draft his successor. Bullard is the only other safety with a Round 2 grade, and a year of learning from Ward and DeMeco Ryans will do him some good.
Buffalo Bills: Marshawn Kneeland, EDGE, Western Michigan
Von Miller's days as a productive pass rusher may be finished, and the Bills badly need a defensive end opposite Greg Rousseau. Kneeland can absolutely run and muddy things in the backfield. However, he'll need to develop more pass-rushing moves with his hands.
Detroit Lions: Bralen Trice, EDGE, Washington
The Lions instantly got better by drafting their CB1 on Thursday. Now, they need to get Aidan Hutchinson some help on the other side of Aaron Glenn's 4-3. Trice has a high motor and doesn't take plays off, which will fit Detroit's culture perfectly.
Baltimore Ravens: Christian Haynes, IOL, UConn
While the best offensive linemen were gone by the time Baltimore got on the clock on Thursday, a lot of the corners were available, getting the Ravens the CB that will allow them to be more comfortable with Marlon Humphrey in the slot this season. Now, the Ravens need to boost their offensive line, which has a bad combination of unhealthy and unproven players. Haynes was an AP All-American in back-to-back years at RG. For someone to get that type of attention at UConn, they have to be good.
San Francisco 49ers: Andru Phillips, CB, Kentucky
Six of the 49ers' CBs are set to be free agents in 2025. Phillips has quick feet and smooth hips, a combination that screams NFL potential. The 49ers have been good defensively for some time, and shouldn't have a problem developing the Kentucky product.
Kansas City Chiefs: Michael Hall Jr., DT, Ohio State
After paying Chris Jones this offseason, the Chiefs probably will lose Derrick Nnadi next offseason. Here, they draft his replacement. Hall has all the makings of the starter if he can use his first year to learn behind two champions and gain some weight.
Round 3
Carolina Panthers: Ja’Tavion Sanders, TE, Texas
Arizona Cardinals: Ruke Orhorhoro, DT, Clemson
Washington Commanders: Adisa Isaac, EDGE, Penn State
New England Patriots: Patrick Paul, OT, Houston
Los Angeles Chargers: Blake Corum, RB, Michigan
New York Giants: T’Vondre Sweat, DT, Texas
Arizona Cardinals: Junior Colson, LB, Michigan
New York Jets: Ja’Lynn Polk, WR, Washington
Dallas Cowboys: Jalen McMillan, WR, Washington
Atlanta Falcons: Austin Booker, EDGE, Kansas
Chicago Bears: Jonah Elliss, EDGE, Utah
Denver Broncos: Brandon Dorlus, EDGE, Oregon
Las Vegas Raiders: Blake Fisher, OT, Notre Dame
Washington Commanders: Jaden Hicks, Safety, Washington State
Atlanta Falcons: Tez Walker, WR, UNC
Cincinnati Bengals: Ben Sinnott, TE, Kansas State
Seattle Seahawks: Roger Rosengarten, OT, Washington
Indianapolis Colts: Cole Bishop, Safety, Utah
Los Angeles Rams: Kiran Amegadjie, OT, Yale
Pittsburgh Steelers: Javon Baker, WR, UCF
Cleveland Browns: Jaylen Wright, RB, Tennessee
Houston Texans: Kris Abrams-Draine, CB, Missouri
Dallas Cowboys: Dominick Puni, IOL, Kansas
Green Bay Packers: Maason Smith, DL, LSU
Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Jeremiah Trotter Jr., LB, Clemson
Arizona Cardinals: Calen Bullock, Safety, USC
Green Bay Packers: Kyhree Jackson, CB, Oregon
Tampa Bay Buccaneers: MarShawn Lloyd, RB, USC
Baltimore Ravens: Jermaine Burton, WR, Alabama
San Francisco 49ers: Sedrick Van Pran, IOL, Georgia
Buffalo Bills: Kamren Kinchens, Safety, Miami (FL)
Jacksonville Jaguars: Cedric Gray, LB, UNC
Cincinnati Bengals: Mohamed Kamara, EDGE, Colorado State
Pittsburgh Steelers: Spencer Rattler, QB, South Carolina
Los Angeles Rams: Braelon Allen, RB, Wisconsin
